About Sarah

Sarah Imbrie Nelson Mann is a Richmond-based artist, specializing in surprise-and-delight custom works of art. Inspired by the sensation of wonder, Sarah creates works of art that celebrate the natural and symbolic world. She seeks to share the charmed feeling of rediscovering the ordinary and noticing the unnoticed.

Using her superpowers of intuition and observation, she ensures her clients’ asks are translated into something singular. Whether it is a painting for the office or mantle, gift for a newborn, design for a wedding suite, or an illustrated story, Sarah creates art that aims to pull her clients out of the trance of everyday life.

In addition to her wide range of freelance work, Sarah served as the Head Designer at a local paper shop, producing custom invitations and personalized stationery. She has held titles including Creative Project Assistant, Teacher, and Artist’s Assistant for a nationally known professional artist. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, where she currently resides with her wonderful husband, their massive fluffy dog, and tiny grumpy bunny.

About Imbrium

The name Imbrium Design melds Sarah’s middle name, Imbrie, with the moon’s Imbrium Basin, a large dark crater on the moon that you can see on a clear night. With interests that lie evenly split between art and science, Sarah embraces the moon’s constant presence yet ever-changing nature to create artwork that’s both steadfast in its style and dynamic in its technique.
